THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE FOR THE SUNSET IN UDAIPUR

Once you reach the top, you don't know where to look. Left, right, in front of you, behind you - the view is spectacular everywhere. And especially during sunset, when the sun sinks slowly behind the hills and the city is enveloped in a golden glow, the views from the Karni Mata Temple are magically beautiful.

Due to its elevated position on the Machla Magra Hills, the Karni Mata Temple offers great views of the city, the lakes and the many green hills that surround Udaipur. Like the rat temple of the same name in Bikaner, the temple is dedicated to the goddess Karni Mata. It was built between 1620 and 1628 by Maharana Karan Singh and the story goes that a visit to the temple extends your life. The believers also say that if you visit the complex in the morning or evening, the goddess will fulfill all your wishes and desires.

However, most tourists do not visit this place in front of the temple, but because of the panoramic view of the city, which is breathtakingly beautiful during sunset - it is not called Sunset Point for nothing. When you arrive at the top, you can walk to the left to a viewpoint, where you can see the iconic Pichola lake. When you walk to the right, you will come to a plateau that overlooks the city. You can book ride for udaipur city tour package.

The viewpoint is just below the old center and can be reached via a hiking trail and a cable car. The trail starts in the Manikal Verma Park, next to the Doodh Talai lake, and it takes about 15-20 minutes before you reach the top. You can also choose to take the cable car that leaves from the cable car station in Deendayal Upadhyay Park.

If you go by cable car, you pay 109 rupees per person for a return ticket (2019). Certainly in the high season it is busy, so count on an hour of waiting time. If you want to see the sunset, it is best to be there an hour and a half in advance. The drive itself takes about 5 minutes and along the way you have beautiful views of the city and the surrounding area. Johan thought that it was worth the wait, afterwards I had just started walking so sweetly that I didn't have to wait an hour.

Because everyone wants to go down at the same time after sunset, the queues for the way back are very long. We therefore chose to walk back and were down again within fifteen minutes. Then it's about a 20 minute walk to the center, but you can of course also use a rickshaw, which you drive to the center in 5-10 minutes. With taxi rental service in udaipur you can go here.

Good to know

Entrance to the temple is free and the cable car is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
